14th Annual Apple City Amateur and Hickory Open
Spring Hills GC - Watsonville

Thanks to all that participated in our first official tournament. Spring Hills is a short course, but can be a bit demanding for hickory and especially difficult for first time players. Blow up holes were pretty common, but on the positive side of the carnage, 5 players birdied #18, which makes for a memorable ending! Steve Henneuse was our eventual winner with a 139 net as well as our low gross medalist.

Big thanks to Eddie Breeden and Craig Healy for traveling from SoCal and Arizona. Eddie arriving on Friday afternoon to hop out of his 8 hour car ride and onto the first tee for our Skins game practice round. Dana's insistence that we all replay the first hole using only his left handed clubs offered some much needed comedic relief and was a great way to end the event.

Amy, Jaques, Bobby, the Spring Hills Staff and members were delighted to have the group and hope to see you again next year!

Spring Hills History
While the 1964 home-built course celebrates its 50th anniversary, the Victorian ranch house that serves as today's clubhouse, has been the core of the property since 1911. For over 100 years, the wrap around veranda has entertained views of the surrounding estate. In 1927, one such teenage onlooker by the name of George, dug a hole with a post hole digger, borrowed his uncle's hickories, and played what amounts to today's 7th hole.
Spring Hills today is ran by the original family and has that down-home hospitality you won't find anywhere else.
