2017 Apple City Hickory Open

A big thanks to everyone for making the Apple City Hickory Open the warm family get together that it is! We may have drank a bit too much of Jacques Wine (thank you Michael) as usual, but it sure was tasty.

Pat - John - Stacy - Seth - Mike - Steve

Stacy - 1st tee and 1911 Victorian Clubhouse

Apple City - 1st tee

Michael also made the potato salad that everyone devoured.

Our 2017 Champion and only player to break par was Michael Scott with a fine 2 under par 70. John Sweeney managed to nip Steve Henneuse for 2nd place, winning a card off.

Hole by hole scores recorded on the 2017 Apple City results page

The Spring Hills trio of George Marciel, Paul Darling, and Ron Taylor shot a 4 under par 68 with our loaner clubs. 2 Strokes were then added to their score (+2) in our blind bogey scramble. Maybe even more impressive for the first time hickory players, is that they managed to win closest to the pin pots (#9 & #13) versus the veteran hickory field!

$200 Gift Certificate Breakdown:
1st Place $60 - Michael Scott
2nd Place $30 - John Sweeney
3rd Place $20 - Steve Henneuse
$20 each winning Scramble - George Marciel, Paul Darling, Ron Taylor
$15 - Closest to the pin #9 - George Marciel
$15 - Closest to the pin #13 - Ron Taylor

A big portion of the field were experiencing Spring Hills for the first time. The course has an initiation fee when it comes to unlucky bounces and kicks. You may have to pay a lesser fee subsequently, but it is a guarantee, the staff and owners will greet you by your name upon your much appreciated return.

Thank you Amy for your hospitality!

1st time Spring Hills players - thank you and look forward to teeing it up with you again.

What it's all about:
The Apple City Hickory Open is very much a family run local event. We the NorCalHickory group have a special relationship with the course, owners, staff, and members. This is our backyard. While the course may be a bit demanding for hickory in certain aspects, Spring Hills always delivers that home-built-family-run experience. Hickory golf couldn't have been much different for the rural golfer of the era. This is just a fun event to play!
